He has released at least 16 albums under the flag of GRP records. The recipe is clear, a concoction of pop, R & B, and Brazilian music and Latin jazz. It is reasonable to see the bloody backdrop of Puerto Rico. Born in New York, April 29, 1952, the instrument is the flute skills, although initially studied Latin percussion such as the bongo and conga. At that time he was only nine years old.
Teachers who taught him the instrument flute, Hubert Laws on Valentine’s suggested to not play the saxophone because of the unique sound of the flute game. He had studied at Bronx Community College and attended the High School of Music and Art as an outstanding talent.

In 1977, Valentin’s first recording with Ricardo Marrero and appears also in the album Noel Pointer. Once discovered by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen, Valentin Lantan signed a contract with the GRP and the name had become popular since then.
Some albums that stand out as the joint GRP include Live at the BlueNote (1988), Two Amigos (1990) Working with collaborating with Herbie Mann. Tropic Heat (1993) was released as an album to her sixteen.
Some of his other works was released by RMM Records, the Primitive Passions (1996) and Sunshower (1999) through Concord Records. This album is more patterned smooth Latin jazz while still containing a little lite bebop.
In 2000, he appeared in a documentary film Calle 54, along with Tito Puente. Valentin mid-year signing a contract with and Highnote Records releasing World On A String (2005) and Come Fly with Me (2006). Collaboration with pianist Bill O’Connell could raise his name as an award nominee at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2006.
